Cockatoo Island is a remnant of Sydney's ever-changing built environment and a remarkable glimpse into decades of architectural endeavour.
From the convict-built gaol and sandstone guardhouse to immense shipbuilding workshops, war-time slipways and colonial residences, this tour will explore the Island's diverse range of buildings through the eyes of Harbour Trust architects and will showcase the opportunities these spaces now offer for the enrichment of Sydney's culture. www.cockatooisland.gov.au
Tours are now booked out but don't let that stop you taking the free ferry across to the Island and taking your chance on a cancellation or perhaps pick up an audio tour (headsets available for $5) and wander around the Island.
